Breeders Awards have been approved

by the Agriculture and NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund Trustees

The list, provided here, is sorted by Breeder, to get total award add Performance and Residency Awards together.
For a list of awards: click here
To be eligible for a Residency Breeders Award, breeders must certify that the mare was a resident in New York State for 180 continuous days during the breeding year, and will be bred to a New York-eligible stallion resulting in a New York-bred foal. The 180-day requirement must be met within the calendar year.
A 2012 Residency award will be paid to the first breeder of record if the 2-year-old progeny of the resident mare finishes among the top five in any NYSS race.
The total Residency Breeders Awards pool will be divided into three separate pools according to level of racing. The Sire Stakes/State Fair residency pool will be 70%, the Excelsior will be 20% and the County Fairs will be 10% of the residency pool. Each separate residency pool amount will be divided by the total number of resident horses who finished in the money for that race season. Breeders of a resident horse will receive a “flat” breeders award amount according to race level.
Residency awards provide an amount of $120,000 for 2-year-olds in 2012
The breakdown of Residency Awards follow:
$84,000 for NYSS resident awards --71 horses = $1,183
$24,000 for Excelsior resident awards ---109 horses = $220
$12,000 for County Fair resident awards – 60 horses = $200
