Eligibility Requirements
This is a description of requirements that must be satisfied for horses to be eligible to breed a foal that will be eligible to the New York Sire Stakes.
Eligible Stallions
A searchable database of stallions enrolled with the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund and eligible to the New York Sire Stakes program. Please note this list is subject to additions and changes each season.
Breeders' Award Program
Breeders’ Awards will be 10% of the New York state breeding farm account which consists of certain revenue received by the Fund from July 1 through June 30. This coincides with the normal New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) purse year.
Mares Bred
A listing of mares bred to New York eligible stallions for the current season. The resulting foals may be made eligible to the New York Sire Stakes program as yearlings the following year and would race as two- and/or three-year-olds.
Breeding Statistics
Here you will find a historical record of participating broodmares, stallions, and yearlings in the New York Sire Stakes dating back to 1964 as well as current breeder statistics.
Boarding and Training
For your information and use, we’ve provided a list of boarding and training facilities located throughout New York State. If you are a farm owner or manager and would like your boarding or training facility added to this list, please contact the Fund.
